With psychologist Yun-Ru and Azure Mulo — a medium that believes in science, and a psychologist who cannot perceive the non-material world — come together to discuss how to stay grounded in this world.
Topics in This Session:
1.Hidden Pitfalls in Spiritual Learning/Courses
2.What Risks Come with Spiritual Services?
3.Ethical Issues from a Psychologist’s Perspective
Guidelines:
1.To ensure everyone has a fair chance to speak, each person is limited to three minutes.
2.Different perspectives are welcome, and everyone's experiences should be respected—please avoid using attacking or confrontational language.
3.When sharing, be mindful of your own feelings and the depth of your content. This space does not offer online readings or counseling services.
My dear friend, psychologist Yun-Ru Chen, and I will be hosting on Clubhouse on 2/23 at 9:30. Moving forward, we plan to hold these talks every other Tuesday evening (2/23, 3/09, 3/23… and so on), each time covering a different topic and opening the floor for listener questions.
Many of the insights and reflections in my blog posts have come from my conversations with Yun-Ru. Since we always have so much to talk about, we thought—why not share our discussions live with everyone?
1. I strongly recommend prioritizing your physical well-being before pursuing anything else in life. The body is a vessel, much like a net—when we prioritize our physical well-being, including rest, diet, and exercise, our energy becomes stronger and more grounded. Only then can we fully receive the great energy, abundant gifts and good fortune from the universe.
If we neglect our physical health, our energy becomes scattered, like a worn-out wallet—no matter how much good fortune or energy the universe sends, it will leak away.
2. The human energy field radiates outward from the body in all directions, extending to about an arm’s length. Ideally, this field should be like jelly or a soft-boiled egg—flexible, with a defined boundary, providing protection from external disturbances.
However, when we are under constant stress—especially in the modern world, where we’re bombarded with excessive information and constantly surrounded by people—it’s easy to become restless and agitated. When we spend too much time processing information, comparing ourselves to others, or overthinking, anxiety builds up.
Excessive thinking causes the energy in our frontal area to become rigid, like cement, losing its flexibility. A rigid energy field can lead to stubbornness, irritability, and an inability to adapt. That’s why activities like exercise, focusing on physical sensations, or even massaging ourselves and our acupunture points help redistribute energy throughout the body. These practices not only strengthen our connection with our physical selves but also relieve stress and prevent energy from becoming stuck in our heads.
Our bodies have their own consciousness, yet we often make decisions with our minds, ignoring physical needs. I’ve seen many cases where people push themselves toward success and growth, relentlessly striving while neglecting their diet and physical limits. Some people’s bodies begin to ‘hold a grudge,’ feeling exploited and overworked. Over time, this builds up as illness, much like a petulant child who decides to force a full shutdown in the future—compelling the person to return and pay attention to their body’s needs.
We don’t have to let things escalate to that point. Instead, we can consciously take care of ourselves and release stress regularly.
3. I know that many people have the ability to receive messages from the spiritual world or are undergoing related training. I’d like to remind everyone that energy from the spiritual realm is always two-way. It’s like opening a door: when the wind comes in, air also flows out. When you receive something, you also offer something in return, whether you're conscious of it or not.
4. Personally, I don’t often actively receive messages, meaning I don’t frequently open the “door.” I spend a lot of time being with myself, reflecting on my thoughts and feelings. I prefer to maintain personal space; otherwise, the energy from the spiritual realm can be overwhelming. Just like humans, some beings have hidden agendas, some are deceitful, and others may disguise themselves. Of course, there are also benevolent beings that offer help, but in my experience, they respect our lives, keep clear boundaries, and often talk little, only offering subtle guidance, allowing us to think and make our own choices.
5. On the other hand, beings with ill intentions are actually weak and need to feed. They seek to gain benefits from humans, so they will be especially eager to flatter you by giving a lot of spiritual messages, often irrelevant to you, and even invade others' privacy. When we trust these beings, just by the act of trust itself, an energetic connection is created. They provide the information you want, and in return, they feed off your energy.
6. Please remember, you have the right to choose. Observe the beings you interact with: if you feel drained or less energetic easily when connecting with them, or if they become dominant and you feel controlled, severely impacting your daily life, you have the right to cut the connection—simply disregard them from that point onward.
7. My spiritual guides conduct classes in the spiritual realm, which means that when I go to bed early, I join those classes. They always guide me to continuously focus on myself. I’m free to experiment with any actions or choices, and they just silently watch. After I have explored for a while, they ask me: what do you like, what don’t you like? What are the reasons behind these feelings? Have you gotten to know yourself better? In our class, it’s only about the relationship and connection I have with myself, unrelated to any other beings.
This has sparked my great curiosity about psychology. I started to study the connection between psychology and the spiritual realm—and indeed, I’ve found that the souls of the psychologists, doctors, nurses, and others are already engaged in similar work in the spiritual realm. They simply bring their talents into this world, transforming them into the current support systems.
Below is Yun-Ru’s Reflection:
I, as a psychologist trained in scientific education, and Azure, as a medium who perceives aspects of the world that science cannot yet explain, we shared insights and perspectives from our respective fields on Clubhouse, exploring different viewpoints.
I am deeply grateful to Azure’s community for compiling multiple versions of notes from our Clubhouse discussion. The following content is based on three sets of transcriptions, along with my own refinements and additions to better articulate my thoughts.
The content of this article is for reference only. Feel free to take what is helpful for you.
■ My Personal Perspective of Counseling
1.
Psychological counseling focuses more on the deeper meaning behind events rather than just the outcome. During sessions, we pay close attention to the process and the client’s experience, helping them explore their emotions, as well as the impact and lasting effects of these events.
For example, due to the event, a client may develop beliefs such as:
"I will never trust anyone again."
"I am incapable."
….etc.
The general approach in counseling is to help clients revisit their past wounds from a place of greater strength in the present—one where they are no longer the defeated and powerless version of themselves. In a safe environment, they can care for their past traumatized selves and reintegrate into the present.
2.
Counseling is a discipline that integrates science and art. With a foundation in science, counseling provides appropriate interventions tailored to the client’s current situation, incorporating various therapeutic approaches and addressing the individual's current needs. For example, guided exploration, reflective questioning, encouragement and invitations to explore new perspectives, or engaging in daily exercises and experiments—all of which help clients care for and empower their wounded selves.
Guide clients to revisit and integrate their past experiences, encouraging them to develop awareness, make conscious choices, and take responsibility in order to stabilize their sense of autonomy and inner strength.
3.
As psychology counseling varies in approaches and frameworks, each psychologist has their own ultimate goals for therapy. Take myself for example:
Short-term goals: Impact from recent events (Understanding), discussing these experiences (Recognizing), and making improvements (Initial steps) → Regaining stability in daily life.
Mid-term goals: What disruptions and changes has the event brought to the client’s life? Regarding deeply ingrained patterns of suffering, what changes does the client wish to make? How to develop responses to cope with the changes and disruptions from the event? → Enhance awareness, make conscious choices, and begin processing their experiences.Long-term goals: Exploring oneself—Who am I ? How do I relate to the world? How I perceive myself and my surroundings → Guiding clients through self-exploration, recognizing their unique essence and identity, reclaiming a sense of control, and strengthening their vitality and autonomy.
Of course, short-, mid-, and long-term goals may be addressed simultaneously in a single counseling session, depending on the client's needs and responses.
Psychological counseling provides companionship, support, expanded perspectives, and fosters personal growth and adaptability. Any decisions made throughout the process are discussed and clarified with the client. Through structured dialogues, this helps clients regain a sense of capability and stability.
(Soothing and reconnecting with past selves → Integrating and grounding in the present → Moving forward to the next step.)
(The principle behind this process shares similarities with "Shou-Jing".)
4.
Quoted Passages from book In This Moment, Meeting You with Genuinity—Deep Reflections of a Gestalt Therapist (Tentative Translation) by Zhong-Wei Cao
Level 1: Awareness at the level of consciousness and cognition
Level 2: Awareness of emotions and needs
Level 3: Awareness of the primal energy within oneself that has never been accessed—meeting the true self
"When I can effectively harness and utilize all my energy, I become an integrated being, filled with love and joy."
"Experiential therapy emphasizes experiences in the here and now. When you truly experience something, it has the opportunity to be integrated into your inner system, leading to genuine transformation."
5.
Quoted Passages from the Book Psychology and Religion by Carl G. Jung
Religion is an inherent function of the unconscious mind. If forcely suppressed, it triggers unconscious backlash, often manifesting as psychoneurosis. Jung believed that this was the primary reason for the widespread anxiety and restlessness in European society at the time, particularly in Germany.
Additionally, through observing patients' recovery processes, Jung discovered that religious rituals serve a protective function, shielding the psyche from the overwhelmness of direct experience. In many cases of psychoneurosis, patients miraculously recovered through confession, prayer, and other religious practices without medication.
Personal POV:
Religion itself is neither good nor bad; what matters is understanding the underlying system of operation and the personal choices one makes. At the end of the day, each person’s life is their own journey; we can only live for ourselves.
6.
As a therapist, maintaining a high level of self-awareness and strong professional boundaries is essential. When I notice that my personal experiences are influencing my work, or that I can no longer accompany my clients with genuine authenticity, it signals the need for supervision or a discussion about referral.
We must always remember that we, too, are human. Recognizing our limitations requires honesty with ourselves. At the same time, we must carefully consider the impact our role has on clients—every intervention must be assessed based on the client’s state and response.
7.
Reminder: Are you led by fear and threats, or are you moving forward in connection with your body and mind? How much power have you given away to others? Are you making your own decisions, choices, and taking responsibility for them?
In the face of uncertainty, it's natural to seek reassuring answers or guidance, as anything that gives us a sense of calm and security is considered helpful.
Neuroplasticity allows for change, and your future continuously evolves with each present moment you experience.
Be mindful of whom you seek support from, maintain your autonomy while staying connected to others. When we are hurt or traumatized, we often seek connections to remind ourselves that we are not alone in our struggles. This sense of support gives us the strength to face challenges again. At times, the longing for religious or spiritual connection arises from the need to find security and confidence in a greater power.
8.
The body itself holds great wisdom—it carries your life and provides clues for deeper self-understanding.
So, how is your relationship with your body? How is your relationship with yourself?
■ Azure’s Perspective as a Medium
1.
Traditional religions were institutions established in past eras to provide solace and to address people's inner needs. As time has progressed and information has become more systematized, many souls have integrated their past experiences and understanding of human nature, transforming them into fields such as counseling, clinical psychology, dance therapy, sandtray therapy, and music therapy. These modern approaches embody the energy of a new era, offering grounded support to help individuals stabilize their lives.
Assessing Whether Religious Power Is Used Wisely:
When conflicts arise among group leaders, it can easily escalate into a fight for power driven by human nature. Under fear, threats and temptations may emerge, luring followers to take the bait and willingly give up their money. People often experience anxiety and unease under pressure, but the body holds wisdom. When in doubt, take a moment to calm down and ask yourself whether you truly need to accept the guidance offered by religious figures.
2.
Some traditional “Shou-Jing” ( a way to calm one’s frightened soul, or retrieve it back to the body) include chanting mantras during rituals. When experiencing a significant blow or setback, it can feel like your heart is broken (one’s energy has shattered). If you are closely attuned to your own feelings, you can reconnect with yourself and offer a sense of security by gently patting your chest while calling your own name, much like a mother soothing a baby by patting their back or chest. This helps gather the fragmented parts of yourself that have drifted away.
Sometimes, these lost fragments become entangled with others, causing you to think of someone inadvertently—perhaps a person who once made you feel hurt. In such moments, try to bring yourself back. Wherever you are, in any situation, try to return to yourself.
3.
In terms of self-connection, activities like cooking, listening to music, gardening, or learning about coffee can help us discover things in life that interest us and that we’re willing to invest in. This has nothing to do with whether these pursuits bring significant financial gain. The relaxation and joy they bring during the process contribute to our inner peace, which leads to a sense of calmness, and stabilizes and completes our personal energy. The strength of this integration can even subconsciously attract the fragmented parts of ourselves back into wholeness.
Staying composed, engaged, and focused on things we love (focusing on life and the present moment) ⇒ stability ⇒ feeling that I can "control, express, and belong to myself."
"Life is a process where we can always organize ourselves, anytime and anywhere."
Regaining a sense of security and connecting with all our fragmented parts ⇒ reclaiming our power.
Propensity = Habit = Karmic pattern (習性=習慣=業力)
Good patterns allow us to make clear choices, while bad ones such as violence, laziness, and hatred, tend to incite antagonies.
Due to the stagnation characteristic of habits, fortune-telling can gain insight into clients’ repeated patterns through their energy, which helps in understanding the direction of their future fortune and life events. By interpreting these messages, it tells the person the outcomes resulting from their habits.
On the other hand, Counseling is "Not giving you the answer because I believe you can adjust your own habits (or patterns). I will accompany you in observing what your habits (or patterns) are." Regardless of what these habits may be, the person can decide how they want to find the answers. Through professional training and years of case studies, counselors use a broad range of knowledge to analyze the person's state.
The difference between fortune-telling and counseling lies in the client’s expectations. People often hope to find a "life cure" through fortune-telling, but may lack the patience to explore themselves in counseling, or feel exhausted by the process of understanding their habits and blind spots through interpersonal interactions.
"The only one who can truly be patient with ourselves is ourselves."
5.
"Interacting with the spiritual realm is like opening a door. I can step out, but some wind might also blow in."
Compared to ordinary people, those with a heightened sixth sense or supernatural sensitivity have a clearer interaction with the spiritual realm and experience a new sensory perception of another world. They must manage the balance of energy flowing in and out.
The Cost of Bearing These Capabilities
Boundary 1 – The Body
When a medium is handling a situation, their energy may either be transferred to the client or dissipate externally. In such cases, the body can become an empty shell, leading to fatigue and an overwhelming burden, even causing spiritual possession. Over time, energy depletion in the body can lead to states of solitude, disability, and poverty.
Out of sympathy, one may reveal challenges that the other person should experience themselves, as if doing their homework for them, preventing them from learning the lessons they need. Over-sympathizing may also cause your energy to stuck with the other person, resulting in self-depletion.
One must maintain a balance of energy flowing in and out.
6.
Everyone goes through tough periods at some point. When feeling negative, as if a black hole exists inside, try writing a list to bring awareness to your inner feelings and observe the origins of your emotions. Through self-soothing and external support, you can pull yourself back. Grounding and focusing on your breath can also help release agitation, panic, and stress, allowing you to channel them into Mother Earth through a deeper connection with your body.
"Negative energy is the vein of the Earth, while the Sun's energy is the artery of the Earth."
Qi is a form of light energy, while the body is a form of heavy energy. Through body sensations and mindful breathing, we can release negative energies of varying densities from our system.
■ Differences and Similarities
In terms of role, fortune-telling tends to provide direct and straightforward answers, carrying a stronger sense of authority. On the other hand, counseling not only upholds ethical and professional guidelines but also prioritizes the client’s autonomy.
Counseling:
1.The client is the center of counseling, with the therapist as partner to explore the journey together.
2.The client has the right to choose and decide throughout the process, allowing them to become more aware of their thoughts and transformations.
Traditional Fortune-Telling:
1.The client passively receives information, while the fortune-teller is the sole provider of insights.
2.The client has no control over the direction of the process or the form of the answers.
3.There are hidden costs from the spiritual realm (e.g., potential connections with ill-intentioned beings).
Similarities=> Both aim to help individuals soothe the inner traumas from their life struggles.
■ Conclusion
All approaches share the same essence—they explore how we make choices in life.
Each era carries its own perspectives, influenced by its cultural and historical background. Life can be as narrow or as vast as we allow it to be. I am the creator of my worldview, yet the worldviews of others can also flow into my own.
—
Self-help → Seeking help from others → God helps
Only when we have the willingness to seek help can we be helped.
Only when we are open to caring for ourselves can we take in the nurturing energy or messages.
I am willing to accept support, and I trust in my own power to make choices and change my own life.

1st person: How did you sort out your view of the spiritual world?
Azure: Mainly through journaling and interactions with beings from higher dimensions, I gradually expanded my understanding of the spiritual world. For more details, please visit my blog. If you wish to explore the spiritual realm, it involves stillness in one’s mind and allowing yourself to sleep and rest.
(From my own understanding, the first question could be interpreted as: Azure built the view based on years of observation, much like piecing together a puzzle over many years.)
(The 2nd person simply shared their personal experience.)
3rd person: How to tell which temples can be visited/worshiped?
Azure: I recommend visiting temples that have been around for a century, as they have a strong reputation.
Related article:https://skylikesun.blogspot.com/2019/02/blog-post_6.html?m=1)
(I think the key is to stabilize yourself. God helps those who help themselves. Treat religion and spirituality as interests, and focus on creating your own life path.)
4th person asked: How to choose the right spiritual service for oneself? Is there any karmic issue when a spiritual therapist serves clients?
Yun-Ru:Trust your own feelings, come back to check how you feel. If you think the therapist isn’t right, don’t choose them, and take responsibility for yourself.
Azure: Only practice Reiki for yourself and your family. Living in the material world, address matters with a material approach. For example, I go to a physical therapist for treatment.
Related article: https://skylikesun.blogspot.com/....../blog-post_17......)
(I personally don’t dare to do Reiki healing. You can refer to Azure’s blog for more articles.)
5th person: How to protect yourself and find the right support channels?
(From my own understanding, it’s better to follow official support systems, such as a licensed counselor/psychologist, or checking the counselor’s experiences on the internet, as well as verifying if there are any records, such as court records.)
6th person: If I receive a message of advice, how do I know if it’s from a higher being or just my own thoughts?
Azure:When delivering messages, I assess whether the person is open to my advice or if it's simply me expressing my own thoughts. If it could cause harm to the person, I choose not to say it.
7th person:Will BJD (Ball-Jointed Dolls) be possessed by negative beings?
Azure: If you frequently touch your dolls, your energy will flow into the doll, creating your own "territory" where other beings won’t dare to approach. If you don’t touch the dolls often, It’s like areas that are rarely touched or visited in the house, where occasional spider webs appear—though the beings are small, they simply coexist peacefully.
8th person: Should spiritual learning be systematic or in free-form?
Azure: Those are arrangements from higher dimensions; everyone has their personal experience. You can patiently walk your own path, sort out your own system, and make it understandable to others.
Final Q&A:The person asking is a kindergarten teacher. She felt that the kindergarten is using kids as tools to showcase how great the kindergarten is. She wondered if this could bring karma to both the kindergarten and herself.
Azure: Parents today often act to satisfy their own desires, but the karmic impact harms others. If you recognize the darker side of the industry, take a moment to reflect on whether you want to become part of it, or what changes you would like to make in that environment.
Topic Next Time: The difference between "Shou-Jing" (recalling a frightened soul) and counseling.
